WorkingwithDeafActorsandCrew:AMasterclasswithSamuelDore
From the Academy Award-winning CODA, to acclaimed series such as Reunion, Code of Silence, and the LFF-selected film Retreat, there's never been more demand for authentic Deaf stories in film and TV drama, highlighting the importance of creating accessible and inclusive productions for cast and crew.
In this webinar, Deaf / BSL drama director, Samuel Dore, will provide a masterclass on how to work with Deaf actors as well as portray stories about Deaf Culture and sign language with Deaf characters. The session will cover the methods available for communication and building up confidence to get the best performances out of Deaf actors without worrying about cultural and language barriers; ways of shooting sign language dialogue scenes, and use of creative subtitles.
Samuel will be joined towards the end of the masterclass by Luke Snellin who directed BBC and Warp Films' Reunion to discuss how he worked with and directed his Deaf cast.
When: Monday 3 November, 10:00-12:00
