Directors UK members filled the screening room at The Mayfair Hotel last night (20th March) for an exclusive preview showing of Danny Boyle's latest film Trance, followed by a fascinating Q&A between Danny and fellow Oscar winner Sam Mendes.

After watching the film, the audience was treated to a lively and informative discussion between two of Britain's most high-profile and acclaimed directors. Sam, fresh off the back of the phenomenal success of Skyfall, put the questions to the mastermind behind the much-loved Olympics opening ceremony, with Danny revealing how long he had wanted to make the movie, the common link running through all his films, and the importance of inducing a sense of uncertainty on the shoot.

Sam then opened it up to the audience, with questions ranging from Danny's relationship with his producers, his take on the importance of actors, and why the BBFC may have been kind on the rating of his latest film. Members can watch a video from this exceptional Q&A below.
